About Welcome

Welcome to my corner of the internet. If you don’t know me yet, my name is Bryant Taylor. After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Informatics, I have been hard at work as a software engineer. I started my career in Seattle where I developed ITAM products for Ivanti (Cherwell Software before it was acquired). For 6 years I developed products that help organizations manage their IT software assets and software spend, known as software asset management (SAM for short). I was a key contributor in the development of the CAM SaaS Analytics product which helps organizations manage and analyze their SaaS subscriptions for Salesforce, Box, and Office 365. In my free time I follow my curiosity and learn as much as possible. This usually means I’m building out my Homelab, tinkering with the latest DevOps tools and trends, and learning how to secure and exploit the software our society runs on. When I’m not building or tinkering with something on my computer, you can find me in the kitchen, on a hike in the woods, or training my weimaraner puppy named Finn. I’m currently based out of the Boise metropolitan area.

At the early stages of this blog, a majority of the content will revolve around the books I’ve enjoyed over the past 5 years. You will find these on my Bookshelf. You will find summaries and reflections about why I enjoyed a certain book. Going forward, as I read books I will use the blog posts as a way to reflect on the high-level concepts that I find interesting based on my current experiences. As I build new projects, or learn something outside of the context of a book, I will write up entries for my Blog section.

At the end of the day, my goals are to:

1. Document what I’m learning (and improve my writing in the process)
2. Reflect and summarize on what I learn
3. Share interesting projects and software engineering concepts
